Deck screw piles

Our free online application recalculates the engineering of the patio’s piles at each click and every change made to your project. The installation of patio’s screw piles, specifically the one of our partner Pylex, is an easier way to do your foundation than concrete form tubes.

For this method, you have to dig a hole from 4 to 5 feet deep under the freezing zone of about 14’’ diameter. This requires a specific shovel. Also, you have to buy the concrete, transport it, mix it and brew it. A concrete bag weighs about 60 pounds and this is for a single pile (8 inches) and it will take, at least, 4-5 bags. So if you have 4 piles, this technique will involve several hours of transporting, mixing…

Calculate the number of piles

It’s for all these reasons that we suggest using Pylex piles to make your job easier. In addition, they are following the industry standards. The Virtual Constructor is made consequently, so it calculates the right number of screw piles you need instantly (see picture below).

The installation is easy to make, either with a lever and an extension to facilitate turning movements and to drive the piles deeper. They are compatible with the extension of 24 inches. Moreover, they are adjustable; they can earn up to 3 inches height. They can be used with pole of 3 ¼ inches and 3 ½ inches. Pylex’s piles are very tough and durable because the wooden pole is located outside the ground.

Caracteristics of screw piles

The Pylex’s piles (50 inches adjustable) can support thousand of pounds. Everything depends on the types of soil on which they are placed on. Note that clayey soils can support fewer charges than sandy soils. With their steel structure and their helical drive, piles ensure an outstanding stability. Thus, they are resistant to ground movement and freeze/thaw.
